Items in My Computer:


How to view the contents of Drive C?


·         Double click on c: in the My Computer window to open it.
·         You will obtain a window displaying all the folders and files in C as illustrated below.
·         Double-clicked on the My Document folder to open it.
·         You will see other folders and files in the My Document folder.
·         Close this window by clicking on.













How to use the menu bar?


Below the title bar at My Computer window is the Menu bar with four items on it. Each item will display a drop down menu when selected. To select a menu item, just click the mouse on it or type the underlined letter of that item.

·         Click on the first item File. Do you obtain the following menu?
·         Without clicking the mouse  button, to move the pointer to the next item Edit to view the commands on the Edit menu.
·         Proceed to the View menu.
The View menus commands affect the view of the window. Notice the check mark next to the item Status bar. This indicates that the status bar is on display in the window. To switch it off, click on the item Status bar in the View menu to erase the check mark. The Status bar no longer appears in the window.
·         Open the view menu again (if necessary). Click on small icons. Does the My Computer windows display the icon on smaller versions?
·         Next open the view menu and select list to line up the items in My Computer as a list.
·         Select Details from the View menu to obtain a more detailed of items in My Computer.
·         Next select Large Icons to revert the Icons to their original size.
·         Restore the status bar as well.














How to view the function of each button on the Title Bar?

The first line carrying the title is referred to as the Caption Bar or Title Bar.
On the left side of the Caption My Computer is a little Computer icon called the Control Menu Button.
Clicking on this button will open up a list of commands that controls the size and positions of the entire window, hence its name.

At the night end of the title bar are three buttons. To find out what each button does, work through the next exercise.

·         Click on the Control Menu button on the left. Do you obtain the following menu? Commands on this menu govern the size and position of the entire My Computer window.
·         Click anywhere outside the menu to close it.
·         Click the mouse once on, the first of the three buttons at the right end of the title bar. Notice the window closes and becomes a button titled My Computer on the Taskbar.
·         Click once on the My Computer button in the Taskbar. Does the window reappear?
·         Click on the button next to the minimize button to fill up the entire screen? This is the Maximize button.
·         Check at three buttons at the top right of the screen now. Notice that the Maximize button is now replaced by a Restore button.
·         Click on the Restore button to revert the window to its normal size.
·         Finally, click on the last button. Does the window close?
·         Double-click on My Computer to open its window again.





How to open the My Computer windows?

The My Computer folder represents your computer. If you want to access something on your computer (such as a file or one of its disk drives) this folder provides a way to do it. To open an item on the desktop, position the movie the mouse pointer on it. Then click the left mouse button quickly twice (referred to as double-click).

·         Double Click on the My Computer folder. A window titled My Computer opens up.

In the My Computer window, all your disk drives are shown. There is also a folder for Control Panel and one for printers.
